Sanitary knickers for babies have a central zone stretching pref. down the front, under the crutch and up to back of the knickers. The central zone is permeable to air whilst the side zones are impermeable. Pref. the side zones are of a permeable fabric with an impermeable lining and the central zone is of a foam material. The knickers are used for holding a nappy pad in position. The central zone allows breathing and prevents perspiration but leakage of urine is prevented.
