[Also in Division G2] A method of splicing two polyester strips or a polyester strip to a cellulose acetate strip, comprises applying an oxime as a swelling agent to one or both ends to be joined and heating them under pressure to a temperature of up to 200‹ C. Suitable oximes are those of aldehydes or ketones containing benzene or naphthalene nucleii. Additional swelling agents such as mono- or polyhydricphenols may be applied. The agents may be diluted by solvents. Suitable apparatus comprises holders 1 for polyester strips 4 having image layers 3, and a metal die 2 for applying pressure.
