1511766 Casings for electric cells SAFT SOC DES ACCUMULATEURS FIX ET DE TRACTION 15 Oct 1976 [17 Oct 1975 (2)] 43015/76 Heading H1B A cell has a metal container the edges of which are turned down against a closure member which bears directly or indirectly against projections on the electrodes. As shown in Fig. 1, spirally wound electrodes 1, 2 with separators 3 are mounted in a container 4, the rim 10 of which is turned over to bear (through a sealing ring 6) against a metal cover 5 resting on the borders 8 of the electrodes 1. The opposite ends of the electrodes 1 rest on a resilient insulating member 9. The electrodes may be Ni-plated steel sheets covered with sintered metal impregnated with active material. In a modification, Fig. 2alpha, an additional connecting post 20 is provided and the cover 5 a valve with an elastomer pellet 22. In a modification (Fig. 3, not shown) the cover may be of plastics and electrical connection is made by a metal valve cap. In further embodiments the ends of the electrodes may be bent transversely (Fig. 4, not shown) and the electrodes may be wound round a core (Figs. 5 to 8, not shown). |
