A bottle opener for crown caps consists of a length of octagonal bar with one end flat and the other end rounded. Near the rounded end, a groove is turned, leaving a small diameter neck (3). The inside face each end of the groove is undercut, leaving a projecting rim (1, 2). The length of the groove is made so that the rim will fit under the corrugated projecting part of the crown cap. Thus, the bar can be held with the rounded end resting on top of the cap. The lower rim then engages the underside of the cap, and the handle swung up. Alternatively, the upper rim, i.e. that at the rounded end, is fitted under the cap and the handle is swung down.
|
