<p>A game resembling chess is played on a hexagonal board (2) divided into 127 hexagons. The hexagons are of three different colours and so arranged that any three adjacent squares are of different colours. Each player has a set of men consisting of one king, two emperors, three sentries, three centurions, three tribunes, two consuls and eleven soldiers. The king can only move one square at a time but each of the other pieces has its own distinctive move which provides a much wider range of possibilities than chess. The aim of the game is to drive the opposing king into such a position that he can be captured or mated as in chess. The game can be played by either two or three players.</p> |
