<p>The unidirectional chopper converts a continuous dc input (11,12) into a pulse output (15) which is passed via an LC filter (33,34) to a load (36). This is achieved using only two thyristors. The input is applied to two series diodes (31,32). The first diode is shunted by an inductor (27) and the main thyristor (13). The output (15) is taken from the junction between the main thyristor cathode and the first diode anode. The main thyristor is shunted by the series combination of an LC commutating circuit (23,24) and an auxiliary thyristor (21). A diode (40) is anti-parallel to the auxiliary thyristor.</p> |
