The fireproof composite panel is composed of two panels (2, 3) as outer layers and of a core (1) consisting of rock wool or slag wool. At least one of the panels is a non-combustible material panel based on an inorganic expanded material. The core is made up of a plurality of beam-shaped elements (4). The fibres of the elements (4) run approximately perpendicularly to the front surfaces of the panel. They are connected to the outer layers via a binder layer (6, 7). The fireproof composite panel is used, in particular, in building construction, especially in high-rise buildings. <IMAGE>
