Telescope for day and night vision - has interchangeable light intensifier and collimating lens on same rotatable mounting as objective

A telescope for day and night vision comprises a large aperture objective (1) having a diaphragm (2), a light intensifier (3) and a collimating lens (4) all disposed on a common mounting and rotatable about a fixed axis. The centres of the photo cathode of the intensifier and the collimating lens are symmetrical with respect to the axis. First and second carriers (5, 6) are associated with the objective and exit lens and an eyepiece (7) has a diaphragm (8) in its object focal plane. The image intensifier and collimator are in turn interposed between the objective of the first carrier for night and day vision respectively. The instrument also has apparatus for placing in coincidence the focal image planes of the objective and object of the first vehicle by translational displacement of the objective along its optical axis over a distance equal to the separation (e) between the photocathode and the fluorescent screen of the intensifier.
