The chain made of metal links in the conventional manner has adjacent links (1a, 1b) lying in planes at right angles to each other. One side of each alternate link is embedded in continuous strip of polyurethane (2). A depression or projection (3) assists in the bonding of the polyurethane to the links. The polyurethane keeps the links in tension and so prevents any kinking of the chain. The chain is free to bend away from the polyurethane strip, i.e. in the plane of the links which are embedded in polyurethane, but cannot bend in the opposite direction. In the plane of the alternate links, the chain is free to bend in either direction.
|
