<p>A high pressure air reservoir is fitted inside the wheel rim, and inside the tubeless tyre. It is filled via a stub set through a hole in the wheel rim, and is connected to the inside of the tyre by a pressure control valve. The capacity of the reservoir is sufficient to replace air leaked slowly from the tyre and ensure a safe tyre operation. The pressure control valve has a membrane operation with a simple assembly unaffected by the rotation of the wheel. If the tyre suffers a large leak, the air from the reservoir slows the rate of air loss and allows the driver to stop the vehicle safely.</p> |
