<p>1440717 Polyimides HUGHES AIRCRAFT CO 3 April 1974 [3 April 1973] 14856/74 Heading C3R [Also in Division C2] Polymers are obtained by polymerizing, or co-polymerizing with other monomers, new polyimide oligomers of general formula where R is X is O or S, Y is H or - C # N, m is 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4 and each benzene ring optionally has pendant aryl or aryloxy groups; R<SP>1</SP> is an arylene group or an arylene ether group as defined for R; R<SP>11</SP> is where X is CO, CH 2 , O, 8 or a single bond; n is from 1 to 10; a mixture of such oligomers may also be used. The oligomers may be used in the presence of a catalyst, e.g. tetraphenyl tin, to prepare laminates or adhesives. In an example an oligomer in which R was R<SP>1</SP> was phenylene and R<SP>11</SP> was = PhCuPh = was copolymerized with terephthalonitrile- N,N<SP>1</SP>-dioxide to form a laminate.</p> |
