The pump is operated by hand and provides artificial respiration, the apparatus being fitted over the mouth and tied in place. It comprises an air bellows unit (2), having an inner flexible tube (10) leading from the outlet in the mouth (5) to an atmospheric air inlet (8). An operating handle passes inside the body of the bellows, its stem (6) being fitted with two discs acting as inlet and outlet valves. When extended, fresh air is sucked into the bellows through a flap valve (14), breath is drawn (13) from the lungs and expelled through the tube. When closed, fresh air passes (7) down the tube into the lungs.
