Flat cylinder head gasket with profiled surface - has square depression and interconnected ridges on both pliable material sides

The flat cylinder head gasket has two external pliable material layers. A sheet metal layer is embedded between these external layers. The pliable material layers have a surface pattern of small depressions and interconnected raised webs. The bottom of each depression (26) is flat and parallel to the gasket plane. The total surface area of these flat bottoms is at least equal to the area of the flat ridges of the webs. The pliable material layers (20, 22) have greater density at their base than at the web ridges. The pitch pattern of the webs lies within the range of 0.5 - 3mm.
