1509987 Rotary positive displacement fluid machines NISSAN MOTOR CO Ltd 11 May 1976 [2 June 1975] 19284/76 Heading F1F In an I.C. engine comprising a polygonal rotor (26), Fig. 1 (not shown), eccentrically mounted on a shaft (22) for rotation in a housing (10), the rotor 26, Fig.2, is provided with a recess in each working face of the rotor, compartments 40a, 40b through which cooling liquid is passed, and compartments 42 which are not supplied with cooling fluid but are open at the end faces of the rotor to receive blow-by gas. The surface portions of the rotor adjacent compartments 42 are maintained at higher temperatures than the remaining rotor surface portions thus promoting combustion in the trailing portions (trailing in relation to the direction of rotor rotation, (Fig.1)) of the chambers (A), (B), (C) formed between the working faces (34a), (34b), (34c) of the rotor and the epitrochoidal inner surface (14) of the housing (10). A recess may be provided in each working face of the rotor. |
