A sliding window 10 has inner, 62, and outer, 80, sashes having internal stiles 58, 88 with interengaging vertical L-section flanges 68, 98 which are cut away at the top and bottom to facilitate the removal of the sashes. Filamentary weatherstrips (e.g. of mohair) 120, 130, 124, 126, are provided, the strip 130 running continuously along the plastic track 34, and abutting spaced drainage holes in the inner channel flange 26. The extruded frame sections are bound by a steel strap 21, and there are punched-out holes 42 in the channel section sill for draining the frame, the drainage being aided by having the outer track 34 stopping short of the ends of the sill |
