The cigar and cigarette holder has a holder portion with a smoke inlet passage (2), an intermediate portion with a smoke intake passage from the chamber. A smoke transfer passage is connected to the inlet passage, the transfer passage section progressively decreasing towards the chamber. There is a fresh air intake (8) for the transfer passage (9) leading from the ambient air via an adjustable opening to the narrowest part of the passage. The transfer passage and fresh air intake can be formed between the contact surfaces of the holder portion and the intermediate portion.
