<p>The vane-type pump comprises a stator and a cylindrical rotor, the latter having a radial slot in which the vane slides. There is a single slot (3) in the rotor (1) extending diametrically through it, and accommodating a single vane (4), whose edges bear permanently against the inside of the stator wall (2). The transverse section of the stator can be the conchoid of a circle (C) passing through the rotor centre, obtained by rotating a secant about the rotor centre and extended beyond the moving intersection point by an amount equal to half the vane length. The ratio between vane half-length (1), circle diameter (phi c) and rotor radius (R) can be determined by the formula R=1-phi c, the ratio between vane length and circle diameter being typically between 3 and 10.</p> |
