Onion and butter mixture for dough covering - contains chopped smoked beef, egg yolk and cream

A method of making an onion cake covering for a leavened dough utilises onions soaked in butter with added eggs, salt and cream. Smoked beef is chopped into small cubes, is added to the strips of onion soaked in butter and this mixt. is then cooled; egg yolk, sweet cream and salt are then added. The pref. ratio of onions to beef is 10:1; of onions to cream 8:1 and of onions to butter 20:1. A less greasy mixture is obtd. with improved taste.
