The mop holder has two approx. U-shaped wire loops (1,2) of which at least one is swivable about a hinge bolt (9) against the action of a spring so that the loops are folded together. The bolt is mounted on base plate (3) to which the handle holder (6) is attached. At least one wire loop (1) has a flat spring (4) which, in the folded position of the loop, lies in a locked position with the base plate. The bolt is mounted below the plate. The lockable wire loop has a transverse web (10) to which the flat spring is mounted. The design facilitates the folding of the loops without the need to manipulate them.
