When a gas atmosphere consisting of a low-boiling gas is to be generated in vessels, this can be carried out by metering a specific quantity of the liquefied low-boiling gas into the vessels and by closing the vessels before the complete evaporation of the liquefied gas. The particular metered quantity of liquefied gas must be adhered to very closely, since, when the metered quantity is too large, an inadmissibly high pressure builds up in the vessels after closing. This presents serious difficulties, since, as a result of the incidence of heat, changing quantities of the low-boiling liquefied gas to be metered already evaporate in the feedline. In order to avoid these inaccuracies, an absorbent body of specific size is saturated with the low-boiling liquefied gas and is introduced into the vessel. |
