The master cylinder (10) for feeding an automobile brake circuit consists of a cylindrical body (B) provided with two outlets (11, 12) and a compression chamber (14) operated by a piston (15) which has a central bore (16) and is controlled from the brake pedal. A passage (32, 33) connects the compression chamber to the piston bore when the piston is in the rest position, another passage (31) connects the bore to the brake fluid reservoir (30). A transmission shaft (17) slides in the bore and carries a sealing joint (19) comprising a washer with two shoulders, one internal (19b) and one external (19a) which locate in grooves in the shaft and bore respectively. When the brake pedal is pressed, the shaft slides in the bore and blocks the passage between the compression chamber and the fluid reservoir.
