The structural element, for a fireplace or stove chimney, has an inside part to conduct smoke, and an outside part enclosing an insulating sheath, pref. of the same material as the inside part and joined to it by one or more cross arms, the intervening space being filled with bulk insulating material. Here the inside part (2) connected to the outside part (3) by pref. a single cross arm (4) incorporates at least one movement joint gap (6) running lengthways. This gap can be diametrally opposite to the cross arm, relative to the longitudinal axis of the flue (1). The joint gap edges may be rebated, and it can contain a sealing strip of asbestos or other fire-resistance material.
|
