The piece goods packing is for items of furniture, machines, television sets etc., having padding components fitting over the corners and some of the edges and flat surfaces. Profiled strips extend round the contents from component to component, their ends being inserted in sockets formed in the components, in which they can be held by friction. The sockets can be in the form of undercut grooves in the inner faces of the components towards the contents, and of section corresponding to that of the strips. Typically they can be of dovetail section, and padding can also be provided on the strips.
