Freshly made concrete blocks are placed on racks which are suitably disposed in a kiln and steam is introduced by means of a syphon which communicates with the atmosphere and causes the transmittal of the steam along with air which results in the "green" blocks being capable of withstanding higher temperatures than would otherwise be the case; the elements in the air imparting increased tendency of the cement to set and harden.
