Drilling machine for repetitive work - has machine table with rotating graduated plates set up with polar coordinates

The drilling machine permits the simple performance of repetitive operations, e.g. drilling, tapping, or counter-sinking and consists of a frame with a vertically movable drilling head (2). At the base of the machine is a console (7), which can slide vertically in guides (8), supporting a cradle (9) which can slide horizontally along guides (10). The cradle series a graduated plate (12) about which pivots another graduated plate (13), for fine adjustment, carrying a dividing plate (15) graduated in 5 deg. intervals. A base plate (18) carries a chuck (17) for the workpiece. The position of the workpiece can be accurately determined using polar coordinates and the graduated plates and the chuck are centred on the cradle so that they are always vertically underneath the centre of the drilling head.
