A cheese grating machine comprises a motor-driven grating disc rotating in a vertical plane. One face only of the disc has grating teeth and this is closely opposed to the outlet opening of a feed hopper.The circumferential edge of the disc is non provided with a right-angled flange forming a cylindrical cup on the disc face not provided with teeth. Grating teeth are provided on the outside of the cylindrical flange which rotates with min clearance in a coaxial, cylindrical passage which has grating teeth on its inner wall.The narrow, annular grating passage between flange and passage wall is the only route by which cheese particles can travel from the feed hopper to the grating machine outlet. This ensures that all particles are finely ground to a consistent standard.
