The nozzle is used on a gas heating torch for high purity silicon to prevent metallic particles polluting the material. It has two parts, the inner body (1) being a ceramic material compatible with silicon. A central bore (10) is provided for gas flow and an annular flange (12) for fixing. The outer sheat (2) is brass or copper and has a tapered length (21) sealing and locating over a similar taper (11) on the ceramic. This sheath also has an annular fixing flange (22). A ring nut (3, 31) is provided to pass over the nozzle assembly and screw onto the torch body, using a sealing washer (4).
