A support arm (22) with a vertical and horizontal locking position is mounted in a housing (10) fixed to the wall so as to be rotatable on an axle (21) near to the wall. Serving for retaining the support arm are a movable, vertically arranged lever arm (25) and a spring-loaded, horizontally arranged latch (24) which rests on a shoulder (26) of the lever arm (25). The support arm (22) is supported in a horizontal position against being lifted with its inner end on the upper part of the lever arm (25) and in a vertical position against being lowered on the latch (24). By operating the lever arm (25) on its lower part which protrudes from the housing (10), the retention can be released in both locking positions. Additional aids for securing the support arm positions are not required. By means of the invention, any risk of injury when operating the support is avoided. <IMAGE>
