<p>In appts. for extracting rubber from a water emulsion comprising a screw within a housing, emulsion is fed to the housing and coagulated therein. The coagulated matl. is fed through a restriction to a relatively low pressure region where the screw flights are only partly filled and the water is caused to separate out from the rubber. Venting means is provided in the low pressure region to vent the water under counter-pressure caused by the effective seal made by the rubber as it passes through the extrusion die. The use of a hot plasticised polymer in the emulsion is avoided.</p> |
