The disadvantage of known washing/drying machines, that, after the wash, the laundry cannot be dried in the same drum in one operation, is overcome by the apparatus according to the invention, since, in this apparatus, the heat radiators (28) radiate their heat rays (S) directly into the entire drum interior, the heat radiation being assisted by hot air blown into the drum by means of a blower. Heat radiation, convection and heat conduction bring about a rapid drying of the entire laundry batch. For drying purposes, the moist air can be guided via a cooling surface (78), which can be the limiting surface of an evaporator (37) of a refrigerator, and be sucked up by the said blower via the funnel (111) and used again for drying. During the washing process, the washing fluid is conveyed in circulation through the interior of the drum (5) via a funnel (32) by means of a pump (63), and the heat radiators (28) simultaneously radiate into the drum interior. In the same way as the drying process, the washing process is also accelerated as a result of the interaction of heat radiation, convection and heat conduction. <IMAGE>
