The fitting serves, for example, for allowing opening on a slope and/or automatic closing. It possesses two joints (5) which can be attached out of vertical to a post. For simpler mounting, along with easy adaptation to different conditions of terrain, the joints (5) have lengthening pieces (6) for adjustable fastening to doors or gates. Provided as lengthening pieces (6) are, in particular, threaded bars (6a) which can be displaced in lugs (12) and which can be fixed to lugs (12) via nuts (13, 14). Furthermore, the lugs (12) have a plurality of orifices (17), so that the threaded bars (6a) can be held at a differing parallel distance from the door or gate. <IMAGE>
