BREAK-RESISTANT TELESCOPING TOOL

Telescopic tool with a shaft comprising a series of tubular sequents which each partially retract coaxially into an adjacent segment. Each section is blocked by a transverse partition having an orifice which restricts the rate of internal air displacement during extension or collapse of the length of the shaft. A sprung fitting can latch the segments in their extended positions. The end segment is fitted with a cap supporting a tool head. Esp. used for tools for working from a distance on e.g., adjustment or repairs to overhead power cable supports and fittings. The tool is relatively light and robust, cannot open or close fast enough to damage the catches or the segments of the body. The matls. prefd. are electrically insulating.
