PURPOSE:To simply and rapidly detect the catching of Coptotermes formosanus Shiraki, etc., or control the termite by employing a composition containing the guide mark, bepheromone, of the Coptotermes formosanus Shiraki comprising a specific compound as an essential component and not having any residual toxicity, exhibiting a stable guiding effect for a long period and having high stability. CONSTITUTION:A detecting member or a controlling member is disposed in a house sufficiently not ventilated under highly wet and week light conditions or in or on the ground near the house, the detecting member being make of a combination of a tackifier and a composition comprising the guide mark bepheromone of Coptotermes formosanus Shiraki, (3Z, 6Z, 8E)-dodecatrienol of the formula, as an essential component and at least one compound selected from n-hexanoic acid, p-hydroxycinnamic acid, vanillic acid, etc., and the controlling member being made of a combination of the composition and a termite-repellant. The detecting member is allowed to stand for a certain period to detect the presence of the caught Coptotermes formosanus Shiraki and/or Reticutitermes speratus (Kolbe) or the controlling member is also allowed to stand for a certain period to control the Coptotermes formosanus Shiraki, etc.
