<p>The cylinder (11) of a reciprocating compressor has a valve plate (13) across its top with openings for inlet (15) and discharge (17) valves. The discharge valve has a metal disc (27) above it whose fixing portion (29) is held to the valve plate and a cylinder body by a pin (35). The inlet valve has a metal disc (26) below which runs the entire length of the valve plate and is shaped so as not to overlap the discharge, valve. The fixing portion (28) of this disc is held between the valve plate and the cylinder by the same pin (35) which holds the discharge valve disc. This construction provides valves which operate independently of each other but are assembled from a small number of components.</p> |
