The colour television camera has a camera tube to receive the filtered green signal and luminance signal and two solid-state sensor matrices to receive the filtered and deflected red and blue signals. The two sensor matrices may be combined into one for both red and blue. A photocathode of suitable sensitivity is located 3 mm in front of the blue sensor matrix. This photocathode provides additional amplification for the blue channel to compensate for the low blue response of the sensor matrices. This increases the final picture's signal to noise ratio.
