Ultrasonic body scan for foetal examination - has time control circuits to discriminate between foetal and parent breathing movements

The foetal scanner operates with two ultrasonic transmitters/receivers (1, 2) mounted on a rotating axis under a focussing lens (5) and held to the abdomen of the mother (7) by a water lens (6). The control circuit has time delay controls which reject the breathing movement of the mother to enhance the display of the breathing movements of the foetus. The system can be tuned to discriminate between the breathing movements and blood pulses of the mother and foetus so that the doctor can accurately determine the state of the foetus.
