In order to form a registration image on each of the pick-up tubes 10-12 via the separation assembly a registration pattern is projected in the reverse direction along part of the second path. The pattern may be a transparency 19 which is selectively introduced into the path. Alternatively it may be projected on to a translucent plate 19, e.g. via a mirror 23 or fibre optics. In another arrangement the pattern lies outside the second path, e.g. at 24 or 26, and is projected into it by suitably pivoting a mirror 16 in the path. |
