Emergency release for vehicle safety belt - has one end of belt fitted to anchorage by flat hook having spring steel quick release catch

The emergency release is fitted to a vehicle safety belt to enable trapped persons to be rescued. It comprises a flat steel hook (2), one end being enlarged to accommodate the end of the safety belt. The other end is hooked, the shorter leg (2b) being parallel to the hook body (2a). This shorter leg has a spring steel leaf (3) fixed to it, forming a catch which permits passage of the hook over the bar of an anchorage point (4) fixed to the vehicle body. The hook can be quickly released by pushing it in the opposite direction, over the spring steel catch.
