1527160 Multiplexing INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP 2 Sept 1976 [10 Sept 1975] 36430/76 Heading H4M In a system such as a computer or a telephone exchange in which clocking signals from a transmitter are sent to different receivers, auxiliary signals for use by the receivers, e.g. for the energization of frequency dividers in the receivers, are transmitted by modifying the clocking signals so that a separate channel for the auxiliary signals is not required. As shown, periodic two-level clocking signals H having transitions in a first direction and in a second direction are produced by the transmitter. An auxiliary signal A to be transmitted together with the clock signals produces a pulse F which is added to the signal H so that a rising edge of the latter is shifted in time, as shown by a double line in waveform T of the figure. The amount of time shift is a function of the auxiliary signal A, and the receiver is adapted to reconstitute the clock signal H and the auxiliary signals A from the received waveform T, suitable circuit arrangements using a retriggerable monostable to detect the time shift being described with reference to Figs. 1, 4 and 7 (not shown). |
