<p>The material is stored in bulk in a silo which has a metering delivery valve. The valve consists of three close parallel plates (1, 2, 3). Each plate is furnished with a number of posts spaced at determined intervals. When a set of holes in plates (1) and (2) line up, the material fills the holes. As the holes move out of line material is trapped in the centre plate space. The quantity trapped is a known quantity which can be released into the space below the valve when the filled spaces line up again with the holes in the bottom plate.</p> |
