Abrasive tool has a supporting body, e.g. a steel cylinder, and a large number of diamond or cubic boron nitride crystals, partly embedded in a metal layer bonded to the supporting body. A resin layer covers the metal layer and partly encloses the crystals, the latter being visible at their ends opposite to the supporting body. The metal layer effects very strong bonding of the crystals to the supporting body. The resin layer supports the crystals against detachment, and also prevents the filling of the tool with waste from the workpiece being ground. Heat is efficiently dissipated via the metal layer. The tool has a high abrasive working surface with a long operating life.
