The display has an injection moulded light guide of transparent or translucent synthetic which is covered by a light transmitting synthetic film attached by welding. The light guide (7) is injection moulded and allowed to cool till it is dimensionally stable, after which the synthetic film (13) is applied under pressure so that it is welded to the light guide (7).
