<p>Diet margarine and low calorie spreads contain monoglycerides, and pref. no appreciable quantities of free fatty acids, diglycerides and triglycerides of long chain fatty acids, e.g. contg. 16-, 18- or 20C. The prods. are partic. suitable for therapy and nutrition in the absence of essential fatty acids and in fat digestion disorders caused by the deficiency of digestive enzymes and bile acid. The fatty acid monoglycerides require no further digestion and are resorbed directly by the mucosa cells of the jejunum.</p> |
