Compression joining sleeve for HV cables - uses hexagonal rings machined flat after joining and sleeve winding of conductive tape

The compression connector for high-voltage cable conductors consists of a cylindrical metal sleeve with a certain minimum thickness (2). At intervals along the sleeve the wall is enlarged in the form of hexagonal rings (3) which allow conductor ends to be joined in a hexagonal compression joint. The width of the flats on the hexagon profile is equal to the outer diameter of the sleeve. After the sleeve has been pressed onto the conductor ends, the corners of the hexagon are removed and the now circular sleeve surface is given a winding of electrically conducting tape (11).
