Frame for detachable operating or X-ray table comprises a mobile lower section, and an upper section pivotable about a horizontal transverse axis. A lever (27) rigidly connected to the upper section has a manual actuator for a coupling which locks the two sections together in different pivot positions. The lever extends at least almost as far as one end of the table, and at the end of the lever is a handle (28) which rotates about the lever axis to form the coupling actuator. The lever is pref. parallel to the table, and the handle is located immediately adjacent to the table. On two opposed sides of the pivot shaft for the upper section are coupling arrangements (26) to which are attached the lever(s).
