Orthopaedic pillow of non-deformation material has a central recess (1) for a holding the head in the face down position, with supporting portions for forehead (a), cheekbones (c) and chin (d). In the mouth and nose region is a break (5) in the recess, into which leads at least one air channel (2) which is incorporated in the pillow and protected against compression. - The recess is pref. shaped according to the anatomy of the rear of the head (e) in the region of the break, to support the head when lying on the back. An additional elongate nape support attached to the cushion perpendicularly supports the nape and part of the back to maintain physiological curvatures of the vertebral column.
