The template comprises upper and lower plates parallel to the plane of the window frame or members to be welded together. The clear space between these upper and lower plates is just equal to the depth of the frame members, so that their ends can be introduced between the plates and held in the correct posn. A heated weld plate is then introduced between the facing surfaces of the members, within the depth of the space between the upper and lower plates of the template, and is finally withdrwn so that the members can be brought together and welded a their surfaces. Since the upper and lower plates define a space o depth exactly equal to the depth fo the window frame members, it is not possible for the weld to form an external beading requiring subsequent removal. Instead, smooth edges to the weld are formed by the inner faces of the upper and lower plates of the template. |
