1530086 Electrolytic chlorination LICENTO AG 26 Aug 1977 [6 Sept 1976] 36017/77 Heading C7B An electrolytic chlorinator includes an electrolytic cell 20 with a vertical cationic membrane 32, and has a passage 38 between anode 30 and cathode 31 compartments, the level 37 defining the maximum anolyte level and this level and levels C, D being such as to prevent catholyte flowing back into the anolyte. A solid chloride source 50 is connected with a (solenoid) controlled water supply 22 and feeds brine to the cell. A chlorine-water mixer 23 connected to the cell supplies chlorinated water into the body of water e.g. a swimming pool 12, to be chlorinated. As shown, the water-supply adds water also to the catholyte (line 61). The mixer 23 includes a float controlled valve 70-76. Water recirculating from the pool 12 is by-passed through ejector 24 for chlorination. The brine inlet 35/35A is open to atmosphere, and hydrogen is vented at 41. Liquid added to the anolyte displaces the spent anolyte via line 38. |
