Fire valve incorporated in gas main - has fusible solder holding spindle in central bush and sprung valve on spindle

The valve is fitted in a housing (4) which can be mounted in in line in a gas pipe. The valve has a central bush (12) mounted on radial arms, the bush having a central spindle (5) soldered in position with soft low temperature melt solder. The valve (3) is mounted onto the opposite end of the spindle and similarly soldered. A coil spring (7) is mounted behind the valve. The valve seats onto the conical seat (4) integral with the housing. High gas temperature occuring in a fire melts the solder and allows the spring to close the valve and shut off the gas supply.
