<p>The tank has a supporting chamber and several composite insulating panels forming a layer covering the inner surface of the supporting chamber. Each insulating panel has a casing divided into front and rear compartments by an internal plate these compartments each contg. an insulating core and the casings of two adjacent composite panels being spaced away from each other. A rear covering seal having an insulating part is disposed between the casings of two adjacent composite panels, almost in alignment with the rear compartments of the casings. An external fitting covers the insulating part and the space between the casings, to which it is hermetically fixed to form a secondary protection for the cryogenic liquid with the inner plates of the composite panels. The front covering seal has an insulating part disposed in the space between the casings of two adjacent composite panels, almost in alignment with the rear compartments of the casings. An external fitting covers the insulating part and the space between the casings, and is hermetically fixed to the front plates of the casings to form a prim. protection for the cryogenic liqs. Excellent insulating properties over the whole surface of the tank are obtd. The tank has good resistance to development of faults at the joints between adjacent panels and can be repaired without risks of an explosion.</p> |
